“it takes a long time to learn how to play like yourself.”
— Miles davis
The quote above is taped right beside my writing desk. It’s a reminder that no matter where you are on the writing journey—from serious new student to accomplished mid-career author—this is a lifelong apprenticeship. Along the way, it’s helpful to have trusted teachers and guides.
For more than fifteen years, I have worked with students and private clients to help bring their best work out into the world. I take the time to assess the work and the writer’s current desires and abilities, and then tailor a detailed plan for either manuscript development or writing coaching. My approach is warm, encouraging and outcome-focused.
With five published novels in more than a dozen languages, including a New York Times bestseller, I understand all the ways life can get in the way of an evolving manuscript. I’m here to provide creative solutions, craft-focused lessons and guidance, as well as detailed written feedback and a phone or Skype call at key points in the project.
